Michael Jackson's music molded my childhood. June 25, 2009 was a horrific day that I will never forget. Thursday night, I found a large group of fans who were feeling the same way as I was...shocked and sad. We gathered across the street from Michael's star on Hollywood Blvd and danced and sang...holding a vigil until security finally let us over to his star around 2AM. Many, many more photos will be added tonight...but here is a sampling of MJ fans turning grief into music and dance...

The Doors continue to inspire me...
Harbor pics here: www.lawomanphotography.com/laharbor
This afternoon, I headed downtown to visit two locations where the Doors had photo shoots in the late 60s. The front photo on the Morrison Hotel album was taken at the Morrison Hotel on Spring Street in Los Angeles. The back cover of the Morrison Hotel album was taken at the Hard Rock Cafe (the "Hard Rock Cafe" chain's supposed namesake) in skid row 4th and Wall St. in downtown LA. I've updated the Jim Morrison sub-category of my Perspectives gallery with the new photos. www.lawomanphotography.com/jim

LA Harbor and night shots
I went on a photo excursion with Urban Photo Adventures to LA Harbor on June 20, 2009. We explored the WW2 Victory Lane ship and get some interesting night shots.
I added a new sub-category to my Los Angeles gallery...titled "LA Harbor".
More info on Urban Photo can be found here: http://www.urbanphotoadventures.com

Cirque Berzerk
I attended the media opening for Cirque Berzerk last night in Los Angeles!
Cirque Berzerk is a unique, sensual, dark carnival that must be seen with your own eyes! Adult themed extravaganza that combines acrobatics, aerialists, burlesque dancers (with a fetish feel), contortionists and a very, very scary clown!
The Big Tent is set up adjacent to Chinatown in the Los Angeles State Historic Park (1245 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Opening night is June 18, 2009 and runs through July 5, 2009 - Thursday through Sundays. For more information, please visit this website: http://cirqueberzerk.com
I will am attending tonight's opening show and hope to have all of last night photos on my website by tomorrow.

Decided to start a blog...
I've decided to start a blog- really a journal of my photographic adventures... I hope it will help me stay organized and push towards new challenges.
6-10-09 afternoon
Took photos at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. I'm working on a 10 photo interpretation of my friend's new album. It started off as a simple project, but as the ideas keep coming, it has started to grow. I had a vision of a head stone with angels wings or music notes. I went in search of something along those lines and found what I wanted! I also stopped by Johnny Ramone's grave to pay homage. I wanted to find Jayne Mansfield and Cecil B. DeMille but I ran out of time.
The photos will be in the Los Angeles section of my website (www.LAwomanPhotography.com) under a new section titled "Cemeteries".
6-10-09 evening
Hiked up the "gnarly" trail (the one on the left) at Runyon and took my teddy bear and a few ideas. The nature/Runyon photos will be added to my Runyon Canyon gallery (in the Los Angeles gallery section on my website). The teddy bear pics are part of a larger project that I'm not finished with yet, so they will remain unpublished for now.
